Is Opalis free for students?
Yes. Every student feature — clubs, hubs, chat, the calendar and Omni — is free forever, and there is no advertising in the app. Schools pay for the faculty and administrative tools.
Do I need my school to sign up before I can use Opalis?
No. You can create an account, start hubs and use the calendar and Omni whether or not your school has joined. Your school's official club list appears once the school is on Opalis.
Can teachers see my private hubs?
No. Hubs are private to the people in them, appear on no club list, and are not visible to faculty or school administrators. Official clubs are different: they are school activities and their advisors can see them.
What is the difference between a club and a hub?
A club is an official school activity with an advisor, a roster the school can see, and a place on your school's public list. A hub is a private group you start yourself with no approval, visible only to the people you invite.
Does Opalis work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Opalis runs in any mobile browser and installs to your home screen from there, so it behaves like an app without a download.
